Setting up
Two to six players, five dice each. The first opener is drawn at random; after that, whoever lost the last round opens. If they are out, the next player still in opens.
Bidding
A bid names a quantity and a face, counted across every cup. A raise is a higher quantity with any face, or the same quantity with a higher face. The opening bid can be any quantity of 2s to 6s: you cannot open on aces (except in palifico).
Wild aces
1s are aces, and aces are wild: they count toward every face, except in a palifico round.
The bid is six 4s. Under the cups: four 4s and three aces. Aces count as 4s, so there are seven: the bid holds.
Bidding on aces
Moving to aces needs at least half the standing quantity, rounded up. Moving back from aces needs at least double the aces plus one, in any face. Aces to aces needs a higher quantity.
| Standing bid | You may bid | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Eleven 3s | Six aces | Half of eleven, rounded up |
| Six aces | Thirteen of any face | Double plus one |
| Six aces | Seven aces | Aces to aces: more aces |
Calling “Liar!”
The player to act may call “Liar!” (dudo) on the standing bid. Every cup lifts. If the bid is short, the bidder loses a die; if it holds, the caller loses a die. A player with no dice is out.
Calza: the exact call
Any player except the bidder may call calza: the bid is exactly right. Call it any time before the next bid, even out of turn; the first call counts. Exact: the caller wins a die back (up to five). Not exact: the caller loses a die.
No calza in a palifico round or when only two players are left.
The bid is five 6s and you call calza. The cups show three 6s and two aces: exactly five. You win a die back.
Palifico
When a player drops to one die, the next round is palifico. They open, and may open on aces. Aces are not wild, and the face cannot change: raises are quantity only. Palifico happens once per player per game, and not when only two players are left.
Winning
The last player with dice wins. In Dice Kingdom you can also play Classic as a points race: nobody loses dice, each round’s loser takes a penalty point, and the fewest points after the set rounds wins.
House rules
Private rooms and quick games can change: starting dice (3 to 6), wild aces, calza, palifico, the format, and showing lost dice beside each player.
